From 2008 to early 2011, Amherst Pizza & Ale House wanted to promote our food and see how it compared to other area establishments. What we discovered blew us away! Our pizza and chicken wings were consistently winning in every contest, event and showcase we entered them. No kidding!

Award-Winning Chicken Wings

Our Char-Pit Crown Royal BBQ Wings are tossed in our secret BBQ sauce with actual Crown Royal whiskey, shaken and seared on our char-pit to create this original award winner. The Char-Pit Crown Royal BBQ wings have been entered in 6 contests and won first place all six times in both judging and crowd voting! These wings were also voted “Best Wings” three times in various local web polls that we didn’t even know were taking place. The awards we have received for this original signature item are quite impressive as we are located in the birthplace of the chicken wing!

Award-Winning Pizza

In early 2010, our talented and competitive kitchen staff created our second signature item just one day before the 2010 Pizza Fest: The Stuffed Banana Pepper Pizza. This is a specialty pizza that mimics all the goodness of traditional stuffed banana peppers. We use a garlic spread and layers of our secret banana pepper sausage stuffing, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and actual sliced Hungarian banana peppers to wow everyone who tastes it. Our sausage mix is a special blend made locally by Mineo & Sapio and produce is purchased locally too. By using actual sliced Hungarian banana peppers instead of sliced pepper rings from a jar, we ensure some bites will be flavorful and others will bring some heat! One bite and you’re hooked!
